Anémone is situated high above the Rhône valley, only a few miles from the east end of Lake Geneva near Montreux. The building is about a mile uphill from the village of Barboleuse on the Bex-Villars-Bretaye railway. Bex is close to the N9 motorway and on the main railway line between Geneva and Milan. The usual road route is via Aigle, about 5Km nearer the lake.

I strongly recommended that users of Anémone have a car. There is free daily public transport in the two high seasons, using the ‘Gryon Express’ that passes the end of our private road five times a day. See www.gryon.ch. It is important to be able to get to La Barboleuse for shopping or connecting with the public transport network. So travel to Switzerland in your own car or, if you fly say to Geneva, hire a car at the airport. In winter, by Swiss law you will need snow chains or winter tyres if you have a 4WD car. Local car hire is also available, please see www.gryon.ch. The drive from a Channel port can take from 8 to 12 hours depending on choice of port, route and driving style. From Geneva Airport, it takes from 1 to 2 hours.
